Article 1 (Freedom of expression and responsibility)
Alpha Economy complies with the following to promote freedom of expression and create a healthy forum for public opinion.
- (Guaranteeing the people’s right to know) Alpha Economy aims to protect the people’s right to know through its reporting.
- (Defense of freedom of expression) Alpha Economy rejects undue interference that hinders the formation of sound public opinion, and through this defends freedom of editing and, further, freedom of expression.
- (Responsibility of the Press) Alpha Economy bears in mind that freedom of editing and expression is based on responsibility, and strives to form sound public opinion, promote public welfare, advance culture, and protect the fundamental rights of the people.
- (Independence of the press) Alpha Economy conducts press activities independently from political, economic, social, and cultural powers, and rejects pressure and requests from such powers.
- (Protection of personal honor and privacy) Alpha Economy does not damage personal honor unless the public interest takes precedence, and strives to protect personal privacy.
- (Prohibition of Prejudice and Discrimination) Alpha Economy excludes prejudice based on race, ethnicity, region, belief, religion, age, gender, occupation, education, class, status, etc., and does not discriminate against individuals or groups based on such prejudice.
- (Protection of the socially disadvantaged and minorities) Alpha Economy protects the rights of the socially disadvantaged and minorities, including children, the disabled, and foreigners, and takes their opinions into consideration.
Article 2 (Accuracy and Fairness)
Alpha Economy strives to report quickly and accurately by making full use of the characteristics of the media, but is careful not to lose objectivity and fairness in its reporting. To this end, it adheres to the following:
- (Conveying facts) Alpha Economy must ensure that facts are conveyed properly in reporting and coverage.
- (Distinction between facts and opinions) Alpha Economy expresses and edits information so that users do not confuse facts and opinions.
- (Maintaining Balance) Alpha Economy maintains balance in reporting and coverage of controversial facts, people, and forces.
- (Completeness of Reporting) Alpha Economy strives to convey the full facts as faithfully as possible in its reporting and coverage.
Article 3 (Conflict of Interest)
Journalists belonging to Alpha Economy strive to avoid conflicts between private and public interests during the reporting and coverage process. To this end, they comply with the following:
- (Prohibition of seeking private interests) Journalists shall not use information obtained during the reporting process to gain financial gain or avoid losses.
- (Conflict of Interest Notice) Journalists must be careful not to allow their own or their relatives’ political, economic, or social interests to influence their reporting and coverage.
- (Restrictions on trading stocks, etc.) While engaging in reporting work related to stocks and securities, journalists shall not directly or indirectly engage in trading of stocks and securities.
- (Prohibition of Unfair Exercise of Group Influence) Journalists shall not form or participate in groups for purposes other than joint reporting, friendship, or professional common interests, and shall not exercise unfair group influence on sources such as press outlets and companies.
- (Prohibition of demanding unfair business practices) Alpha Economy does not demand unfair business practices from journalists engaged in reporting work, and journalists do not accept such demands.
Article 4 (Protection of Minors)
Alpha Economy strives to foster healthy character and emotional development in minors and protects them from obscene or violent harmful environments. To this end, it adheres to the following:
- (Consent of the person responsible for protection during reporting) Alpha Economy makes it a rule to obtain consent from the person responsible for protection, such as a parent, guardian, or school principal, when conducting interviews or filming minors.
- (Protection of identity of minors) Alpha Economy adheres to the principle of not revealing the identity of criminal suspects or victims who are minors.
- (Protection of minors when reporting on sexual crimes) Alpha Economy does not reveal the identities of minors or their families when reporting on sexual crimes involving minors or their families.
- (Cooperation with restrictions on reporting on kidnapping) Alpha Economy actively cooperates with requests from families or investigative agencies to restrict reporting in cases where a minor is kidnapped.
- (Protection of minors from harmful environments) Alpha Economy does not glorify or report in detail anti-social or unethical incidents.
Article 5 (Reporting Standards)
Alpha Economy complies with the following when reporting to establish a proper media culture and promote sound development.
- (Verification of the credibility of the source) Alpha Economy verifies the credibility of the source and verifies the accuracy of public data such as the websites of public institutions or various organizations when reporting. In particular, when the testimony of the source is a revelation of hidden facts, the intention and accuracy are verified through multiple sources.
- (Prohibition on receiving money or entertainment and on forcing advertising or sponsorship) Alpha Economy and its employees must not request or receive money or entertainment in connection with reporting and coverage, and must not use their status as a media outlet or journalist to force advertising or sponsorship.
- (Privacy Protection) Alpha Economy will always obtain the consent of the person concerned and pay attention to privacy protection when visiting private or limited public areas for reporting, unless the public interest takes precedence.
- (Precautions when covering disasters, etc.) Alpha Economy does not violate human dignity when covering disasters or accidents, and does not interfere with damage recovery efforts.
- (Victim Protection) Alpha Economy takes special care when using photographs or interviewing people who have suffered from tragic events or their relatives.
- (Prohibition of unethical reporting) Alpha Economy does not report through wiretapping, secret filming, impersonation, unauthorized search or removal of data, or any other unethical means.
Article 6 (Editing Standards)
Alpha Economy adheres to the following when editing to improve the quality of articles and deliver information accurately.
- (Title Principle) The title of an article should represent the summary or core content of the article.
- (Title restrictions) Alpha Economy must not use titles that exaggerate or distort the content of articles.
- (Distinction between articles and advertisements) Alpha Economy must ensure that users can clearly distinguish between articles and advertisements.
- (Restrictions on unfair transmission of articles) Alpha Economy must not engage in unfair transmission practices, such as repeatedly transmitting news articles that are essentially the same news but have only changed the title or some of the secondary content, in order to unfairly increase the number of searches for news articles.
Article 7 (Reporting Standards)
Alpha Economy complies with the following to provide reliable reporting:
- (Indication of the source) Alpha Economy makes it a rule to explicitly state the source or source of an article. However, in cases where the source’s identity is revealed and there is a risk of disadvantage or personal safety being at risk, anonymity may be an exception.
- (Accurate citation) When Alpha Economy cites the remarks or data of a source in an article, it cites the content accurately and does not change the intent or emphasis of the content to suit the purpose of the report.
- (Fact Checking) Alpha Economy strives to verify the facts of news articles such as oral statements and press releases provided by sources.
- (Reliability of the Survey) When reporting based on a survey related to public opinion or product satisfaction, Alpha Economy clearly states the objective basis that can guarantee the reliability of the survey.
- (Use of published works) Alpha Economy will follow fair practices within a reasonable scope when using published works for reporting.
- (Source Indication) Alpha Economy must indicate the source when using its own or third-party content.
- (Copyright Protection) Alpha Economy must obtain the consent of the author when citing another person's work in its reporting.
- (Guarantee of the right to rebuttal) Alpha Economy provides individuals and groups who may be disadvantaged by a report with an opportunity to rebut in advance, and if there is an expression of intent to exercise the right to rebuttal after the fact, we strive to include that content in the article.
- (Image manipulation prohibited) Alpha Economy must not distort facts through image manipulation of photos or videos when reporting.
- (Restrictions on the use of selective information) Alpha Economy takes care not to use expressions that may cause excessive disgust, discomfort, fear, or sexual shame.
- (Protection of the identity of crime victims, etc.) Alpha Economy must protect the identity of crime victims and follow the principle of presumption of innocence for suspects and defendants.
- (Caution in reporting on suicide) Alpha Economy does not report in a way that arouses public curiosity, such as by describing the suicide method in detail, considering the impact that suicide reports have on society.
Article 8 (Protection of User Rights)
Alpha Economy strives to foster a sound forum for public opinion formation, but must ensure that users' legitimate rights are not violated. To this end, the following must be observed:
- (User Participation and Use Guarantee) Alpha Economy guarantees sound user participation and fair use of articles.
- (Protection of user posts) Alpha Economy shall not delete or limit the exposure of user-written comments or other posts without unavoidable reasons.
- (Note that posts may infringe on the personal rights of others) Alpha Economy will take measures to protect the rights of the parties if a user’s post infringes on the personal rights of others.
- (Ensuring access to diverse information) Alpha Economy strives to create an environment where information can be accessed through diverse methods such as hyperlinks.
Article 9 (Relief from damage caused by reports)
Alpha Economy will listen to the opinions of any party who claims to have been harmed by the report as much as possible, and if it determines that the article needs to be revised, it will take action as quickly as possible. To this end, it will comply with the following:
- (Hearing the victim's opinion) Alpha Economy will try to hear the opinion of the party who claims to have been harmed by the report as directly as possible.
- (Rapid correction of errors) Alpha Economy will correct the article content as quickly as possible if it is confirmed to be an error through a request from the party concerned, etc.
- (Publication of rebuttals or corrections) Alpha Economy takes editorial care to ensure that rebuttals or corrections are easily accessible and accessible when they are published.
Article 10 (Establishment and operation of ethics organization)
- (Establishment of an ethics organization) An ethics organization related to this code of ethics may be established and operated to ensure continuous implementation and inspection of this code of ethics.
- (Establishment of detailed standards) Specific implementation rules can be established by collecting opinions from Alpha Economy, which has pledged to uphold the code of ethics.
- (Media ethics education) We strive to develop and operate educational programs related to media ethics.
- (Implementation of Code of Ethics) The CEO and the chief reporter sign and stamp the document to demonstrate their commitment to implementing Alpha Economy’s Code of Ethics.
